Day 11 – March 11th 2013
Soon after Neil arrived Brad joined the team. Brad broke the pattern because he was from Melbourne, although the Southern Hemisphere connection was still going strong. Once Neil had returned to South Africa, Brad took on his role and stayed for a little while longer. I could have gone in several directions with a Brad-related question at this point (Billy Bragg and David Millar among them) but the Olympics won out.
Brad had the pleasure of coming through Stratford station everyday on the way to Bureau, and in 2009 Stratford was a hive of activity as the Olympics construction were in full swing. I often wonder what Brad would make of Stratford now, or how he squared the images of the Olympics last summer with the reality of what he saw in 2009. The Olympics were built on a pretty bleak part of London that I doubt many people knew that well before 2012 – I only vaguely knew the area – but it was once the unusual home for an TV studio from where a well-known show was broadcast. So, today’s question is…
Q: What well-known TV programme was filmed in a cottage on the edge of what is now the Olympic Park? (it’s still there but now in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium and no longer a TV studio)
