Day 23 – March 23rd 2013
Life in Camden always seemed like a comedown after being based in Covent Garden. No doubt Acton will now seem less glamorous than Camden, which did have its moments. One of our favourite ‘Camden’ moments was the day Mr Bean came by. Not even Rowan Atkinson but Mr Bean himself. We were based just round the corner from Camden Lock, but it felt a bit quiet and residential, looking out on a block of flats, a sports ground and a church. And then one day…imagine our surprise when the church was used in the new Mr Bean film – Mr Bean’s Holiday. The film starts with him winning the main prize (a holiday) in the raffle at a church fundraising for its leaky roof, and then he goes off on a trip to the South of France. Yes, of course I had to watch the film – having seen a film being shot on our doorstep you can hardly not watch it. It’s a strange sight, seeing the actual Mr Bean mini parked at the end of our yard, Mr Bean getting into it and screeching across the road to park outside the church. Sadly, as a footnote, the scenes we watched being filmed didn’t make the final cut…he drives to the church from the other side in the film. Anyway, today’s question is…
Q: How does Mr Bean lock his mini?
A: With a padlock – see how in this clip here
